This video is my best response to the question: "What made the difference between your failures and success?"

Of all the things I've done, this song stands out as a major turning point in my journey. Reluctantly singing it to myself in the mirror every morning dramatically changed every part of my life. It raised my Acceptitude. www.Acceptitude.com .

I first heard the song in the late 80s at an experiential training I was a participant in. It was recorded by Jai Michael Josefs for his album "Carry The Love" in 1984. It was made popular by the founder of Hay House Inc, and author of "You Can Heal Your Life", Louise Hay. I changed a few of the lyrics to match my personal philosophy.

Steve's Story

I feel blessed to have been born to parents that loved to serve and really valued their relationships with others. If I owe my success to anything, I believe it is witnessing and learning that.

As a young man, I milked cows in the summers, worked with my father in the sheet metal trade and at 15 worked at our family's new music store.

I loved to read and fortunately for me, my father left books lying around that were radically different than the ones I had access to in school. Reading books with titles like "The Magic of Thinking Big", "Psycho-Cybernetics", “How to Win Friends and Influence People"...... my life was forever changed. I learned that “giving up” wasn't an option.

Somewhere in this process I became "functionally unemployable". Besides being an aspiring Rock Star, no employer could offer me the financial future I desired. Commission sales and marketing was the only thing that made any sense to me. Not punching a clock gave me the freedom to do my music the way I wanted.

There was only one problem…..FEAR…..and a lot of it.

- Fear of girls
- Fear of rejection
- Fear of making phone calls
- Fear of what people thought of me
- Fear of anyone not liking me
- Fear of making a mistake
- Fear of failure and humiliation
-Fear of responsibility
- Fear of the dentist…to name a few

There I was, hell bent on succeeding in the two fields (sales or entertainment) that guaranteed I would have to face my fears.

I plunged forward, believing all the books and tapes that said I just had to want it bad enough (have a big enough “why”) to overcome my fears.

To accomplish this, in addition to all the sales and PMA books and tapes I could get my hands on, my life started including:

- Affirmations
- Vision Boards
- Goal Cards all over the place
- Visualizations
- PMA Rally’s
- Self-Improvement Seminars

I wish I could report that I was an immediate success at sales or Rock Stardom, but I can't.

It would be well over a dozen years before I could report anything close to business success. 12 years that included:

- Trying a couple dozen MLM opportunities
- Bending tin again
- Selling signs, advertising and insurance
- A car repossessed while giving a biz opp presentation
- Touring with a band
- A stint at pouring synthetic marble
- Bankruptcy
- A couple of years at a battery warehouse
- Dropping the Rock Star dream to raise 4 children

Watching me over those years you would have witnessed a person jumping from business to business, determined to get what he wanted. I was ultra optimistic and regardless of how tough things were, I would state that “everything was great”. Believing that I could not afford “the luxury of a negative thought” as that was “a down payment on an obligation to fail”. I stayed the course, not realizing consciously that I was jumping around to avoid really facing my fears.

One fateful day in 1984 I accepted the fact that what I had believed and been doing regarding money wasn't working. I had to do something radically different. Taking my biggest risk to date, I took $5000 I had borrowed to save our house from foreclosure and invested it in a training program called "The Future Millionaires Home Study Training Course on Empire Building." The training itself wasn't anything new or earth shattering but the relationships I made as a result of the national and local events changed my "Mindset" ever so slightly and set the stage for major improvements in every area of my life.

Almost immediately the insurance agency I had been struggling to maintain became profitable. We were able to sell the house and get a nicer one. I then created lucrative partnerships with a couple of my new mentors, sold my insurance agency, never to work again…. except from my home.

Never again would I have to miss any of my children's school programs, be kept from coaching their sports teams or attending any of their activities because I was chained to an office.

Still, all this had little impact on reducing my fears, I had learned new ways to ignore them (exercise and staying busy) but they eventually showed up in another form of self-sabotage… severe joint pain, severe fatigue, weight gain….

In my continued search for better ways to handle my fears (with money and health issues now) my life ventured through a multitude of new experiences, including:

- Hundreds of health products…vitamins, minerals, herbs, oils, tablets, capsules, juices, homeopathics, patches, tinctures, cookies, powders, sprays, ointments, flower remedies, electronic energy devices……

- NLP, fine tuning my sensory acuity, mirroring, re-patterning & re-framing

- Listening to and creating subliminal recordings

- Several Experiential Trainings where I pounded on chairs and screamed for hours, walked through love tunnels, sang “The Impossible Dream” with all I could muster, was the brunt of the foulest language I had ever heard, confronted my comfort zones with “stretches”, played the Red – Black game, walked on hot coals and broke target arrows with the soft part of my throat in Hawaii

- Listening to positive tapes for 14 hours a day & night

- Getting in touch with and hugging my inner child

- Bonding with my male and female nature

- Primal screaming

- Ropes courses, trust falls and leaping from poles 40 feet in the air, blindfolded

- Yoga, chanting and meditating for hours at a time

- Fasting, cleansing & colonics

- Confessing all my “sins”

- Getting in touch with my “guardian angels”, earthbound possessing spirits and “ascended masters”

- Sweat lodge and finding my power animal

- Past life regressions and re-birthing

- Rolfing, Cranial Sacral, Reiki, Kinesiology

- Hypnotherapy, Rapid Eye, Auditing and Releasing

- Brain re-patterning

- Psychotherapy, group, marriage counseling and retreats

- Personality, I.Q., psychosis testing

- Singing to myself in the mirror... and more

Over 20 years have past since I made that fateful $5000 decision in 1984. Years that included all the above and more:

- Creating large successful organizations in multiple MLM companies

- Lots of new friends as a result of the above and heartbreak over watching less than 5% of the people that joined me in those companies have the same experience that I did, regardless of how much I would try to do for and with them

- The excitement of traveling to exotic places

- New homes, new cars, new toys

- Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual pain and gain

- Unwise decisions, including challenging the IRS which resulted in a 2 ½ year long, very expensive legal battle and 10 months in federal prison for eventually pleading out to: “aiding and assisting in the preparation of a false tax return”. While there, my 30 year marriage ended in divorce, my children struggled and I was unable to be there for them. I could only watch as I lost most everything I had identified myself by. As I was forced to face so many of my FEAR demons head on, this turned out to be the best experiential training I’d ever attended.

- I discovered I could be happy with nothing but myself

In the process I learned some valuable lessons:

- Relationships are far more valuable than knowledge or skills.

- Knowing better doesn't equate with doing better.

- Making yourself or anyone else feel worse, to get them to do better, does not produce long term positive results.

- Pain is mandatory in life, suffering is optional and is created by our opinions. (And… most pain separated by time becomes humor.)

- All things seem to eventually end up working together for good. (And… reminding someone of this when they are in the middle of a challenge doesn't do either of you much good.)

- Letting go of programmed beliefs and assumptions and allowing a deeper wisdom than our conditioned opinions to guide us to what might be beneficial in each situation... always works best.

- It is not about what I do differently but what I feel and speak differently that makes the difference. There are two worlds, one of Abundance and one of Scarcity. The world I see outside is a perfect reflection of the world I feel inside.

By far the best thing to come out of all that has happened in my life is my wonderful companion and sweetheart "Linda", our blended family of nine incredibly diverse children, their spouses and four (and counting) of the greatest grandsons in the world.

Like a vast majority of people, I developed an intense fear of rejection at an early age that kept me from exploring and doing many things, as well as developing relationships with people I really wanted to connect with.

The Namastay Experiment is simply the name I have given the tool that has worked best for getting me “unstuck”. Whenever I feel that my life is not working the way I would like it to, I implement it and amazing things immediately start happening. "Our prospects are primarily interested in making more money."

Imagine having 10,000 hundred dollar bills in your possession right now, would you exchange them for other things or hang onto them forever? If you'd exchange them, then it wasn't the money you wanted after all. It's not even what you'd exchange them for that you really want. You really want the feeling you think you'll get by having what you exchanged the money for. It's not about financial freedom, residual income, time, health, etc. It's about the way you think you will feel (emotions) with all of those things. i.e. secure, free, energetic, pleasure, meaningfulness, acceptance, etc... Start exploring “why” your prospects want what they want and how they would feel having it. You'll be amazed at what happens for both of you.

"Being totally honest about yourself and the facts of your business could hurt your business."

If it does, you'd better be changing deals and/or your attitude about yourself. Anything less than "total honesty" hurts more than just your business.

Yes, people will pay a lot for B.S. the first time around.

In business you are working at building residual relationships (and therefore income) and the best way to prevent that from happening is to lie about you or your business. Sooner or later the truth will come out and when it does, watch out for the fallout.

There are generally plenty of good truthful things to be excited about with any company, and there are always plenty of good truthful things to be excited about with "you". Risk being "Real"! You'll find the end result is worth it.

If you ever wonder whether what you are feeling is real, a good way to tell is: “Can others bring you down easily”. If they can, you are most likely believing a lie.

The solution is not to leave what you're doing, but to own and embrace the emotions your current experience is creating in you. There are a multitude of techniques to help you process those emotions and in doing so, you will get to know yourself better. When you do, you'll know the right thing for "you" to do.

"A person will fail without a positive attitude."

The key word here is "fail". I've known many people that have experienced what most would consider incredible "success" who have terribly negative attitudes. Now I believe a "negative" attitude will definitely cost you "True Success", but so will what I see being pushed as "a positive attitude" by many in business, especially in the "fake it till you make it" and "enthusiasm" categories. I'm not saying they don't work, the tragic thing is that they do, but sooner or later you come down and the price you pay for having lied to yourself and others isn't worth it. An incredible reality is that no one actually ever fails. Just because you didn't learn what someone else thought you should from an experience doesn't mean you didn't gain anything from it. To think so, is a lie. It's true that masterpieces take time.

"To succeed, you must believe that your business is better than all the others."

How many times have you been on a conference call or personally heard a distributor putting down other opportunities by representing their opportunity as: “the one and only”, “better than all the others”, “the last great one to come along in this lifetime”, “the one all the top leaders in the industry are flocking too”…. or participating in the war of “the old way of prospecting, that starts with making a list of 100 people” vs. “the new way of attraction marketing, where you only talk to those that contact you” ?

What a tragic attitude fostered by far too many in this industry.

One of the wisest things I learned was to run from the "ours is the one and only" zealots. My association with them was usually short lived as they ended up being the first to jump ship to the next new "one and only", attempting to drag their existing downline, even those they hadn’t personally sponsored, along.

With that said: The business is certainly much more fun to build if you feel your program is the best one for "You" based on your own individual criteria. You will find that when you Totally Accept you, you will allow others to have their own criteria regarding what's best for them… and you will be excited to help them discover their own criteria… even if it doesn’t result in them joining you in your opportunity.

Some people find they love sharing tangible products like skin care, candles or nutritionals. Others are more attracted to services like legal services, discount health care or energy. Some people like to share with family and friends and talk face to face, where other love perfecting their marketing skills through print advertising or the utilizing the internet. I know very successful networkers that love to cold call list or even go door to door.

We are all unique and I hope you will learn to enjoy, celebrate and encourage that uniqueness.
Both methods of prospecting (old and new) are alive and working very well. They are just two different but effective ways to build. Both take concentrated committed effort (over a longer period of time than just a couple of months) to mature into a successful business.

If you find yourself feeling a need to put down another person, opportunity or system, step back and take a look at yourself to discover what it is that you are really putting down about yourself.
There are an abundance of reasons to be excited about any legitimate network marketing opportunity that you should never need to put another down to make yours look good.

"People fail because they picked the wrong MLM Company, Product or Pay Plan."

First off let’s deal with the words “FAIL” and “Wrong”. It’s arrogant and judgmental to even use them. There is no way for us to know what any decision will really lead to for ourselves, let alone another.

"Timing" should probably be part of the above list also. It’s a fact that some companies go under, some products end up being "snake oil", some pay plans are more difficult than others and trends can help or hurt you, but the Only reason people experience “Success” is because they are ready to.

This is an industry that will eventually teach you that it is all about finding the right "You". It is what network marketing, "The Perfect Playground" is best at and is the reason most people get nervous and run from it. They aren’t ready for that discovery yet and that’s OK. When you do find the right "You", it doesn't matter much which opportunity you choose because you'll choose the one that is right for "You".

The fact is, when you own and totally accept what's inside you, it doesn't matter what's outside you.

After years of stumbling in the network marketing industry, I eventually learned a few things that turned it around for me. I assumed everyone else knew these things and that I was the only "Slow Child Playing" on the block. However, the difference between the size of the checks I was generating and those of the masses was more than I could ignore. Most had the same first class training materials. They had been taught all a person would need in regards to product, prospecting, closing, attitude, goal setting, etc. Yet most of the people didn't experience the success I did, and it wasn't that they weren't trying hard enough.

So I kept asking myself, "what exactly is it that I am doing differently?"

One day the thought occurred to me that maybe I had been asking the wrong question. That it may have nothing to do with what I had been Doing but what I was now Believing.

I started asking people some basic questions
about their Success Beliefs, beliefs that had
sabotaged my success so many times.

The problem was wide spread and picking up speed. Everywhere I looked I’d witness people getting excited as recruiters flashed big checks in front of them, telling them how, by combining a great company with a simple turn key system, they can also have checks like this showing up in their mailboxes. Add a few stories about so called "average" people, like them succeeding, and they jump in. Then about as quickly as they come in, a large majority fall out. The few that stick may make it financially worthwhile for the recruiters, but once I realized how damaging these tactics were, I could never go anywhere near recruiting that way and knowingly perpetuate this tragedy.

Blood Money- Building Your MLM Business through Plasma Donation

Several months ago a new company started advertising in our small Southern Utah town of St. George. They were offering to pay up to $50 (tax free) a week for plasma donations.

My immediate thought was WOW! A couple could earn an extra $400/month or $2600/year. That is more than enough to get them started and keep them active in most any network marketing company.

Having never donated myself, I had images of a bunch of drug addicts, anxious for their next fix, congregating in some dingy room with tubes in their arms. Yet, if it could get a person started in dramatically changing their life… it would be well worth it.

I decided that before I asked anyone else to consider that as an option, I needed to do it myself for at least a month. Boy was I in for a surprise.

I asked Linda if she wanted to join me in this adventure. She was reluctant, until she talked with our son who is a nurse. He shared that plasma is desperately needed in saving the lives of the patients he cares for and is also needed to treat burn victims and those with hemophilia. Medical researchers need it to find new cures and treatments for a variety of medical conditions. He urged her to take the time to donate, regardless of the money.

The adventure started by taking the following steps:

1- Calling the donation center to make an appointment . You need to have a physical and some blood test done before you donate. The physical is free and done at the center. They do this to ensure that you don’t have any serious health issues or diseases like HIV or hepatitis. You need to be at least 18 years of age and over 110 lbs.

2- The first visit is always the longest and will last between 2-3 hours, the following just over an hour. I always plan on 1 ½ hours.

At this visit I learned that:

a. The donation center was a very clean and well lit facility, full of very friendly professional people taking and giving plasma.

b. They give an additional bonus payment for this initial visit and also give bonuses for referring others who qualify to donate. Our center gives $10 extra.

c. You have to wait at least 48 hours between visits and can donate blood plasma twice a week max. That meant I could earn a maximum of $50 a week from donating but unlimited referral fees of $10 each.

d. Certain factors can disqualify you immediately, like
- Recent illness, recent tattoo or acupuncture treatment.
- Diseases affecting the blood or immune system and certain prescription drugs, as well as illegal drugs.
- One of my referral s was disqualified because of a heart attack and another for being 75 years old.
- They ask detailed questions about your sexual activities such as: “Have you had sex for money or drugs or sex with someone that has?” or “Have you had sex with a man who has had sex with a man in the last 100 :) years?”.

3- The process was surprisingly quite painless and worthwhile in spite of my personal needle phobias. The worst part for me is getting my finger stuck for a blood sample each time. I feel good about getting my weight, blood pressure, blood iron and lipids checked twice a week for free.

4- Here are a few Tips to make your adventure as enjoyable as possible:

- It’s important to drink plenty of fluids before and after your donation. The process of removing blood plasma can dehydrate you. Drinking fluids will prevent you from getting some of the symptoms associated with dehydration like headaches, dizziness, and nausea. While the symptoms are only temporary, they are uncomfortable none the less… so stay hydrated.

- Take a book, magazine, mp3 or DVD player, cell phone or your computer to make the time pass quickly. I’m now really proficient in one hand typing. In fact, I typed this while I was hooked up donating.

- If you get cold easily, make sure to take a blanket.

- Go to the bathroom before they hook you up.

- Don’t eat anything fatty the night before you donate or your lipids will be to high.

- Don’t drink anything cold ½ hour before donating or your temperature will be too low.

- Have a fun time interacting and building friendships with the staff and other donors... you don’t want someone that is depressed or angry sticking a needle in your arm.

I hope this article motivates you to start donating weekly for whatever reason.

BTW: Not only did I make it easily through my one month commitment, I have been donating regularly since March of 2008. I actually look forward the time as I always have plenty of work to do on the computer, seminars to listen too or calls to catch up on.

The MLM Success Jungle

One day a lion, feeling pretty Kingly, walked deep into the jungle and coming across a python he asked: "Who's the boss around this place?" The python responded, "Why you are Mr. Lion, everyone knows that."

Feeling good he approached a gorilla and asked, "Who's the greatest around here?" The gorilla said, "You're the man, you rule this place Mr. Lion".

After asking many other animals the same type of questions and getting the same kind of responses, the lion eventually met up with an elephant. He boldly asked the elephant, "Who's the king of the jungle?" The elephant reached down with his trunk and grabbed the lion. Picking him up he proceeded to throw the lion a great distance into a big tree.

After several minutes, the lion bruised, broken and bleeding a bit, got up and stumbled over to the elephant, looked him directly in the eyes and said, "That's no way to act just because you don't know the right answer".

THE DAY I BEFRIENDED THE ELEPHANTS

For years I ventured into the sales and business ownership jungle over and over and over again. The stories told and promises made were so exciting and enticing. I kept going in, confident that this time things would be different, only to end up eventually being thrown by an "elephant".

It didn't take long to realize I wanted to avoid elephants at all cost, but to no avail, they kept showing up.

Then one day someone said... "Hey, quit stressing out and start making friends with the elephants! What? Make friends with the beast that had been destroying my dreams?"

Well, what I'd been doing certainly wasn't working, so I hesitantly decided to give it a try, and almost overnight everything in my life started to dramatically change for the better.

For years I refused to see what experience was desperately trying to teach me. FACE your FEARS. All the rejection, ridicule, failure, bogus commitments, backorders, blue sky motivation, bounced bonus checks, marketing plan changes, personality clashes, scams of every variety, advertising losses, pirating of business, a new "better" deal, no support, no training.... the problems that I blamed for keeping me from success.

I now know that all those problems were created by my own beliefs. These elephants were created be me, for me.

As I started becoming friends with these "elephants", I witnessed my limiting beliefs being dispelled and beliefs that supported my dreams naturally took their place.

How I wish I'd befriended the elephants years earlier as by doing so my world transformed from one of desperation, chaos and financial ruin to one of possibilities, fulfillment and financial freedom.

Linda, very happy and self-sufficient by herself, decided to play with attracting someone "beyond amazing", not really believing anyone like that existed.

Steve, happy alone and very content to live the non-responsible life of a traveling musician unless "the perfect woman" was somehow delivered without any effort on his part.

Both therefore felt released from ever worrying about getting married again. Famous last words!

The universe pulled a fast one and POW!!!

The "perfect woman" and the one "so beyond amazing" collided, over a buffet table at a network marketing companies international convention. Neither could muster the strength to run in the opposite direction and in five short weeks Linda moved her screaming children 1,300 miles to St George Utah. Steve left his four adult children in Salt Lake City and the two would get married the next week, leaving family and friends sure that they had lost their minds!

Thus began our incredible journey together.

As we came together in such a short period of time we wondered how our unique talents and personalities might blend.

- Having independent of each other, built successful businesses, with over 50 years of combined home based and traditional business experience.

- We have both “had it all” and “lost it all”.

- Lived through a terminal illness.

- Survived the divorce process.

- Supported a family as a single stay-at-home mom.

- Have 9 children to attend to and blend in a second marriage.

One of our frequent topics of discussion was:

“What was the REAL SECRET to building successful relationships and business?”

Intense trial and error over the years had taught us both that:

Ø Gratitude is the best cure for anything

Ø Needing Approval from or Control of another person is a sure recipe for Disaster

Ø It is not the things going on around us that cause distress but our reaction to them. Carl Jung was right:

“If things go wrong in the world, something is
wrong in me. Therefore, if I am sensible,
I shall put myself right first.”

Ø When we Change the way we Feel about the World we are Experiencing, the World we Experience Changes.

Ø “Withholding” Thoughts or Feelings under the guise of Protecting someone you Love is the best way to fall out of Love

Ø Feelings of Joy and Happiness come from the Love we Give and NOT from that which we Receive

We still can’t wipe the smiles off our face as we feel so blessed to now be in a relationship with someone that is so easy to feel love for. Keeping our relationship alive has always felt effortless. (It is that “no with-holds” thing).

We accepted this as a wonderful gift, knowing that our real growth would come from learning to feel the same way about the people in our lives that are not so easy to love.

We were excited to discover that we both shared a passion for sales, marketing, business ownership and network marketing. We love sharing and mentoring others in experiencing the lifestyle those industries offer.

We also discovered that we were both at a loss in how to really improve the less than 5% success rate in those industries. We set out to find an effective solution to this tragedy.

What was missing from the many formulas for success that were being taught? How do you teach people the mindset necessary to succeed?

Did we need to just accept the fact that less than 5% of the people are “winners” and 95% plus “losers” when it comes to business? That a few people have “what it takes" but most of them don’t?

We Knew That Wasn’t True

We had learned and witnessed that if you are not making the kind of money or living the kind of life you want, it is generally not because you don‘t know how, it is simply because at some level, you don't FEEL or BELIEVE you can or should.

We are controlled by FEELINGS, BELIEF’S and DECISIONS - Conscious or Unconscious - that keep us in our "Comfort Zones" and thus at our current level of income and happiness.

They are the roadblocks that keep you STUCK and your odds of thinking, affirming or beating that BLOCK away is.... well, you know how well it's worked so far. It is the reason we sabotage our success and so many of us are in “Group”

Until you change your FEELINGS, BELIEFS and DECISIONS about money or love or heath and REMOVE the BLOCKS, you will struggle with attracting a positive abundance of it into your life!

Are you getting the picture?

Have you ever noticed when you decide once and for all to lose 10 lbs by Sept. 1, you end up gaining 5?

Or you set a goal to get out of debt and suddenly you see every amazing, once in a lifetime, bargain on the plasma TV you have been dying for, with financing @ 0% for a year. Then the furnace or air conditioner dies leaving you forced to finance a new one. And on it goes.

There is an explanation.

It is called "Psychological Reversal" or Self-Sabotage. Your sub-conscious mind immediately kicks in to keep you safe, to keep you in your "comfort zone".

It starts by saying something like, "Here we go again" or "How many times have you tried that?" or "That will never work" or "Don't be Stupid!" or "You didn't fall for that again...”

That is Psychological Reversal taking over.

So where do we get these so called “comfort zones”? My conscious mind has no problem saying “I want more income, more love, more motivation and drive”. Why don’t I “just do it”?

Why can't you just "Pull yourself up by your boot-straps and get to work?" (another belief that doesn't work).

Why don't you just "snap out of it", decide what you really want and take action?

If you have done any psychotherapy or emotional work, you may be familiar with the term “Inner Sentence” or “Core Belief”.

These feelings, beliefs and decisions are formed by the time you reach 6 to 8 years old and they determine many of your decisions and choices you make in your adult life. Like whom you marry, how much money you make, how happy you are allowed to be, if you are superior or inferior, if you are a martyr or a victim.

Depending on what you have decided, as a small child; who you are and what you deserve, you will make decisions and choices to support your “Core Belief” and keep you in your “Comfort Zone”.

You might call those unconscious feelings, beliefs and decisions the “writing on our walls”. From the time of our birth, people all around us are writing on our walls. They say things like, “Hurry up! You are so slow.” “Don’t be stupid” etc. Then we make a decision about ourselves, with our child mind, and we believe all that graffiti to be the truth about us.

So What Can You Do About It?
